Course Information
Tai Chi

Course Type: Holistic Holiday
Course leaders: Andreas
Watching the practise of Tai Chi Chuan in a Hong Kong park I was amazed at the effortless grace and vitality of the practitioners. Even more amazing was that many of them were in their eighties. The practise of tai chi and qi gong (whose roots stretch back thousands of years) improves both physical and mental health in a gentle but powerful way. The body becomes physically stronger and more supple. The mind learns to become more focused and more resistant to stress.
Qi gong combines the breath with both outwardly visible movement and internal energy movement. In this way we first begin to feel the natural flow of qi (our life energy) and then eventually learn to direct it. This flow of energy is essential for continued good health. The opposite of this is stagnation, which can lead to ill health.
During the week we will practise qi gong in the midst of beautiful nature and pure air, sometimes as the sun is rising over the mountains or as the sun sets towards the sea. By the end of the week you will have learnt a very easy series of qi gong exercises that you can take with you and which if practised regularly will give you a lifetime of good health.
You will also be learning the 24 form tai chi sequence, A short sequence that contains all the ingredients for a life time of exploration and health. At the very least Tai Chi is a beautiful dance, at its deeper level it is a microcosmic representation of life!
Although primarily we will be emphasising the health aspects of tai chi, we will also explore some of the martial applications.
As with all our courses there will be plenty of time to relax, explore the stunning Greek landscape, swim, walk and enjoy good food and company.
