Have you ever thought of keeping bees? Bee keeping is a fascinating, ancient tradition that can be extremely rewarding. An average hive can produce the honey requirements of a family (and a few friends too!). The hive will also give you aromatic beeswax and proplis. During the week you will be guided through the basics of keeping your own bee hive. You will learn
- How to construct a traditional Kenyan bee hive.
- How to stock it with bees.
- Learn to Manage your hive during the seasons.
- How to harvest honey, wax and propolis.
- Learn how these products can be used in your home.
- Learn how to identify the quality of different honies.
Of course you will also have plenty of time to relax and enjoy the beautiful Greek countryside. The area has an old tradition of bee keeping and we will visit some existing 200 year old bee hives.
